Jennifer Stycuk

Acting Manager of Facilities, Municipality of Clarington

Over the past 27 years, Jennifer Stycuk has worn more hats than most municipal closets can hold. Armed with a diploma in Public Relations, she began her career in Communications and Tourism, simultaneously serving as the Membership Coordinator for the Clarington Board of Trade. Like many in small municipalities, she quickly discovered that job descriptions are more like guidelines—her portfolio included everything from corporate communications and community events to tourism liaison work and, yes, even elephant wrangling (true story, ask her!).

In 2018, Jennifer joined the Community Development team within Community Services, bringing her event expertise and love of community connection to a larger stage. With a focus on supporting a community-led approach to recreation and leisure, she helped shape initiatives rooted in inclusion, accessibility, and collaboration, always looking for new ways to meet residents where they are.

In true “choose your own adventure” style, Jennifer embraced a steep learning curve in recreation facility management, with the full support of colleagues who were likely just excited to have someone else learn the refrigeration plant. By 2021, she had fully immersed herself in facilities work and had recently stepped into the role of Acting Manager of Facilities.

Jennifer brings a deep respect for public service, a commitment to inclusive community building, and just enough humour to keep team meetings interesting.
