The Call2Recycle Municipal Sponsorship Challenge provides an opportunity for delegates of the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit to secure a municipal sponsorship investment by showcasing their municipality through a sponsorship proposal.
The sponsor, Call2Recycle Canada will invest $20,000 in sponsorships through two (2) $10,000 sponsorships to Canadian municipalities attending the summit to advance their battery recycling objectives. Please note, interested municipalities must be registered for the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit to be eligible to partake in the Call2Recycle Municipal Sponsorship Challenge.

Concept
Municipal Delegates attending the Summit from across Canada are invited to develop a sponsorship proposal to secure one of two (2) $10,000 municipal sponsorship investments by Call2Recycle Canada. Sponsorship proposals will be developed inclusive of all sponsorship fees. Any additional activation and/or production costs are at the discretion of Call2Recycle and must be disclosed within each proposal.
Call2Recycle will evaluate and select proposals that best achieve their sponsorship investment objectives. Proposals for consideration by Call2Reccyle are open to registered delegates representing Canadian Municipalities at the 2025 WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit. Each municipality (no matter how many delegates they have attending) can only submit a single proposal.
All qualified submissions will be reviewed, and three (3) proposals will be selected to present live at the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit during the Municipal Sponsorship Showcase Evening in Peterborough on Tuesday April 1, 2025. Two municipalities will be selected that evening to work directly with Call2Recycle Canada to execute a $10,000 sponsorship investment in their municipality.
Sponsorship investments by Call2Recycle, and the intake of proposals will be promoted via the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit and through the Municipal Sponsorship Network.
Logistics and Process
All Proposals must be submitted as an Adobe PDF, via the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit portal. All “Municipal Proposal Forms”, and their accompanying “Proposals” will be packaged and provided to Call2Recycle for screening of the three finalists.
- Submissions will be restricted to a maximum length of five pages of Arial Font 11 or equivalent size font or disqualified. Submissions can be developed on any software but must be saved into a PDF format for submission.

- All proposals must be received by midnight February 28, 2025.
- All proposals will be screened between March 3 – 14, 2025.
- Three (3) proposals will be selected for the opportunity to present live at the Municipal Sponsorship Showcase Event – April 1, 2025, to Call2Recycle Canada.
- The three (3) proposals selected to present will be notified on March 17th, 2025, and invited to present at the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit, during the Sponsorship Showcase evening.
- Live presentations will be 5 minutes max for each proposal
- The 3 Sponsorship proposal presentations will be spread throughout the Municipal Sponsorship Showcase evening agenda.
At the conclusion of the evening Call2Recyle will announce two Municipalities that they will work with to execute sponsorship agreements and invest $10,000. All submissions become the property of Call2Recycle Canada and can be used for their exclusive use.
Proposal Requirements for Municipalities
Each Municipality registering a delegate to the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit will be entitled to submit a proposal for $10,000 sponsorship investments in their municipality from Call2Recycle.Only one proposal may be submitted per municipality, no matter how many delegates are registered at the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit.

Call2Recycle Canada, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 to protect and preserve the environment by collecting and recycling consumer batteries across the country. Call2Recycle is committed to safe, and reliable recycling of qualifying consumer battery products.
Call2Recycle Canada manages their consumer facing brand – Recycle Your Batteries Canada – which focuses on consumer education and recycling initiatives.
Discovery Sessions with Call2Recylce Canada will not be possible for this opportunity and will be replaced with the outlined requirements and objectives below:
Municipal sponsorship proposals will be evaluated based on a Municipality’s ability to achieve the following sponsorship objectives of Call2Recycle:
- Create meaningful and interactive engagements with municipal residents.
- Create public awareness and educate municipal residents about safe and easy battery recycling options.
- Identify solutions to distribute battery recycling collateral and educational materials to municipal residents.
- Encourage and provide opportunities for Call2Recycle to deploy collection and recycling services for qualifying recyclable batteries.
- Based on a specific period.
- Based over a longer sustained period.
- Identify and include sponsorship integration across multiple municipal programs, departments, and areas of service delivery.
- Create meaningful and impactful networking opportunities with local stakeholders and decision makers. IE – Mayor, Business Leaders, etc.
- Create high impact, high impression communications in the market.
- Digital Media
- Traditional Media
- Social Media
- Out-of-home marketing
- Generate high impact brand awareness and messaging.
Each of the objectives above will be further evaluated based on:
- Number of impressions in the market
- Number of connections and integration within municipal programs and departments.
- Number of opportunities to connect with key stakeholders.
- Number of audience engagements in the market
- Distribution quantities of collateral into the hands of municipal residents
- Time in market IE – 3 days event, or 12-month sponsorship of a service program.
- Potential opportunities and weights of collected recyclable batteries.
- Engagement with Youth and Family audiences.
Format for Live Proposal
Three (3) Municipalities will be selected based on the content of their proposals and invited to present live at the Municipal Sponsorship showcase evening during the WSC® Municipal Sponsorship Summit. Each presentation will be allocated a 5-minute opportunity to deliver a high impact overview of their sponsorship proposal to Call2Recycle and the Summit audience. The room will be set up with a stage, screen, computer and microphone.
Sponsorship Investment Terms and Conditions
Final Sponsorship terms and conditions are subject to negotiation and final agreement between Call2Recycle and the selected Municipalities. All proposal evaluations, selected presenters, and final decisions will be at the discretion of Call2Recycle, including the option to engage with any Municipality in the future.
Call2Recycle’s commitment to a sponsorship investment requires that the investment be finalized with an agreement and invoiced by the Municipality before the end of 2025. The sponsorship investment is subject to a sponsorship agreement that includes sponsorship activations and assets as described in the proposal and deployed in the market between June 1 2025, and December 31, 2026.
- Call2Recycle reserves the right to allocate their $10,000 sponsorship investment within each municipality based on the proposal and on an executed agreement.
- Where a Sponsorship proposal does not include production costs, or activation costs within the $10,000 investment budget, the proposal submission must disclose these costs and provide alternative solutions and disclose the additional estimated production or activation costs. Call2Recyle will retain exclusive discretion on the allocation of their sponsorship investment.
